Is your dynamometer’s PC on-line? Version 9.2 (or later) licensees (with an Internet connection on their dynamometer’s PC) may use DYNO-MAX’s “Help – Check Web for DYNO-MAX 2000 Updates…” menu selection. It automatically installs updates to DYNO-MAX 2000 SP #2 from our FTP Server!
What if your dynamometer’s PC is not hooked to the Internet? DYNO-MAX 2000 licensees, without an Internet connection, may follow these steps:
Tip: This is a 25 MB download.
1) Manually download the “cd1.exe” installation file (see “download version…)” link below).
2) Copy that file to a USB thumb-drive (or CD).
3) Transfer that file to your DYNO-MAX equipped PC’s “desktop.”
4) Double-click that file and follow its installation instructions.
Click this “download version 9.38 SP #2 Upgrade CD files now” link (and then click Save) to begin downloading the Zipped installation file.
Tip: When asked, we suggest using your Windows Desktop for the “Save As” location of the “CD-2010.exe” zipped installation file – so you can find it easily. What was new in version DYNO-MAX 2000 9.38 SP #1 and #2?Click here to review historical enhancements and fixes.
Bugs, updates, or fixes for DYNO-MAX 2000 (as of 09/22/2009)
Unresolved bugs, patches, or work around suggestions: If you have an earlier version of DYNO-MAX, please upgrade to the latest release – before troubleshooting any suspected issues!
Important notice to Version 9.37 SP #2 or #3 users: Update to any later release, as there was a typo in the Friction Compensation % Torque formula that shipped in the Version 9.37 SP #2 and SP #3 releases (only). The bug forces that formula’s results to zero. For users correcting to STD or SAE standards (with the 100% Friction Compensation active), this would result in under correction. You can easily repair any effected saved runs by using the Formula List’s Replace button – to import the 9.38 release’s Formula List and then resave the run. Our Support Team will be glad to talk you through this very simple process.
What happened to my “Search for Saved Run” tool? A Microsoft Service Pack update discontinued legacy OS support for Visual C++’s “System Date” format – breaking this DYNO-MAX feature. The latest DYNO-MAX 2010 version restores the Search for Saved Run functionality.
Crashes when using HP Inkjet Printers have been reported over the last year. Apparently the drivers shipped with many of their new ink-jet printers (like the D4200 model) do not respond correctly to some legal Windows calls. Symptoms include lockup when the DYNO-MAX Console is opening or graphing. HP offers free updates to their latest drivers for these printers on the Hewlett-Packard website, but is slow to make fixes.
Tip: We have written around this driver issue in DYNO-MAX 2010, so the above warning does not apply to our latest DYNO-MAX software.
Windows 95, 98, Me and NT users! Microsoft has announced that they are discontinuing support for Windows NT and 98 (Windows 95 support ceased long ago). For improved performance, stability, and long term support, update your operating system (and PC if required) to Windows XP. DYNO-MAX 2010 users should consider Windows 7 – although XP and Vista are supported by DYNO-MAX 2010 too.
Windows 7 and Vista compatibility
Upgrade to DYNO-MAX 2010 for full Windows 7 and Vista compatibility! Users under a current Priority Support Plan should upgrade to DYNO-MAX 2010 – for free!
Running DYNO-MAX 2000 under Windows 7 and Vista is not officially supported by Land & Sea. Vista impacts the performance of any PC (compared to XP) and limits the ability of the machine to support multiple DYNOmite board sets at high data rates! Note: Vista and Windows 7 are both compatible with our newer DYNO-MAX 2010 software.
One specific “incompatibly” is that Vista and Windows 7 do not ship with the necessary winhlp32.exe file – to display DYNO-MAX 2000’s on-line help. Microsoft has since released this required program as a free download. Click on the link below to acquire this program from Microsoft’s site (also read the Important note – just below):
Important: After installing the winhlp32.exe engine, you may still receive an error message “There was a problem running the macro. (1037)” when viewing older Help files. Microsoft outlines the simple Registry Fix for this error in their support article below:
Bug-Fix for: “Check Web for DYNO-MAX Updates” feature
Earlier versions of DYNO-MAX may experience the following (specific) problem with DYNO-MAX’s “Check Web for DYNO-MAX Updates” feature: “It goes through all of the downloading process, properly restarts DYNO-MAX, but upon returning the version is NOT updated.” If this is happening to you, download our fixed “TransferUpgrade.exe” (Zipped) program. A recent
Microsoft update of your User Account Control settings prevents completion of automatic upgrading. Our new TransferUpgrade.exe file should be manually downloaded, unzipped, and then saved into your DYNO-MAX folder (e.g. “C:\Program Files\DYNO-MAX”) so automatic upgrading can complete. Contact Land & Sea Support if you need assistance!
User’s Manual for DYNO-MAX 2000 version 9.38
To download a free printable copy of the last DYNO-MAX 2000 Users Manual to your PC, click on this Zipped “DYNO-MAX Users Manual.exe” link! It’s a printable version (in .pdf format) of the program’s On-Line Help.
Tip: If you already have the latest version of DYNO-MAX on a CD, then this same .pdf file is under its “DYNO-MAX 2000 Users Manual” folder.
Attention: Manual is over 1,600 pages long! 13 megabytes (approximate download time with 56k modem = 45 minutes).
Tip: The above file is compressed. After downloading you will need to “double click” on it (i.e. from Windows Explorer). This action expands it into a “.pdf” file that you can then open with the Adobe’s free Acrobat 10.1.2 Reader for viewing or printing.
